Mr. Samson's previous six years of professional experience as an architect for firms in Boston and Los Angeles encompassed a broad range of building types. Commercial projects included office complexes, suburban office parks and tenant improvements. Residential work concentrated primarily on condominium projects, such as a luxury tower on the Nile in Cairo, Egypt. Hospitality developments included destination resorts and hotel properties, such as Hotel Nikko at Beverly Hills. Retail projects ranged in scale from a marketplace "Power Center" to individual retail stores.
